  On November 1/2023, Professor Thomas G. Schulze, University of Munich, who is leading the International Consortium of Lithium Genetics (ConLiGen), visited our department and gave a lecture titled “Biological psychiatric research: comprehensive phenotyping, technological advances & trust-based global networking”.

  On May 30/2023, our paper on the role of somatic mutations in bipolar disorder was published in Molecular Psychiatry. Our data of trio exome analysis supported the role of mtDNA 3243 mutations that we found by a postmortem brain study in 2005.

  On February 21/2023, our paper on heterozygous knockout mice of Fads1/2 responsible for the synthesis of DHA/EPA was published in Molecular Psychiatry. We think this is the first mouse model showing mania-like and depression-like episodes.

  Notice
  Tadafumi Kato, the Team Leader of the Laboratory for Molecular Dynamics of Mental Disorders moves to Juntendo University as the Professor and Chairman of the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Science, Graduate School of Medicine.
  In the fiscal year 2020, Kato stays as the Team Leader and the laboratory continues. During fiscal year 2020, the laboratory will move to the Juntendo University, and he will continue the research of the causes and new diagnosis and treatment of bipolar disorder and related mental disorders.
